The Pie Queen of BG’s Food Tour of Glasgow
The perks of being so close to Barren County
are endless,
but especially when you’re a foodie.
Here are a few places I wouldn’t want you to miss out on…
Fine Arts Bistro welcomes you with southern charm and a cozy atmosphere. I recommend sitting in the window so you can check out the square happenings while you eat. I started breakfast out with the Farmers Omelet packed full of veggies and topped with an amazing chipotle aioli. Then, if you’re like me, I always have room for dessert, even at breakfast…so I got the ciabatta French toast. I have No regrets.
Yancey’s is a great place to meet your friends for a good time. It was girls night, so we went with the all-appetizer ‘girl dinner’. I am already planning my next visit to have more of the street corn dip with chips. We also enjoyed some wings and Korean ribs, but my Mom gave the crab hushpuppies three WOWS as her review. I’m looking forward to coming back for their live music and trivia nights.
Date night is always a win, especially during a busy season of planning who has to be where and how they are getting there. Most days Brad and I don’t get to really chat until we are getting ready for bed. Lately, we have been sneaking in day dates, and lunch at Napolis was definitely a win. We started with cheese sticks, then soup and salad. I got the chicken parmesan, and Brad had the tortellini bolognese round beef in Brandy Wine Creamy Sauce with a touch of Marinara Sauce. The best part for me though was the slice of Italian cream cake.
La Nacional is perfect for a quick lunch and shopping trip. We started out with fresh made guacamole, then dove into loaded nachos, tamales, pupusas, and a quesadilla. Then once we were full, we went grocery shopping (that’s the key to not overbuying!) I loaded up on cotija cheese, limes, avocados, and found a chili lime seasoning. All those groceries were to help me make a meal from my Bounty of the Barrens farmers market finds. While I was at the market, I grabbed a fresh whole chicken, onions, peppers, tomatoes, peaches, and jalapeño cheddar sausages. Plus, while we were at the market, we snagged some jerky sticks, s’mores bread, and a bouquet of fresh flowers.
