Join us for the FIRST EVER open jam at The Grove! All skill levels and spectators are welcome!
A Note from The Grove’s Promoter:
“When I was a college student completing my folk studies minor, I embarked on an ethnographic research project about bluegrass jam circles. Not knowing much about the genre itself, I picked up my notebook and recorder and visited jams all around the region.
I was captivated not only by the music, but by the fellowship, community and special kind of magic that is manifested when these gatherings are held. It was then that I visited Station Inn for the very first time, and a lady I interviewed introduced me to none other than JT Gray himself, the owner of Station Inn.
JT agreed to an interview, to my surprise, and I made another trip down the following week, we sat down and he proceeded to tell me two hours worth of stories from Station Inn and beyond. I was absolutely enthralled by everything he had to say, and that conversation sparked a deep love for bluegrass, unknowingly starting me down a road I didn’t know I would travel.
These gatherings are so named for the man that started it all for me, my friend, Mr. JT Gray in hopes that a fraction of the magic he brought into the world, might make its way into our little woods for a while.”
I am proud to introduce what will hopefully be the first of many, JT’s Open Jam at The Grove.
