Barren River Lake

One of the most popular ways to spend time at Barren River Lake State Park is on the lake! No matter where you are in the park, you can usually see the lake for a beautiful view. As far as things to do on the lake, the options are endless. While out on the lake you can boat, ski, swim, fish, and anything else you love doing on the lake. Barren River Lake is the home base to many houseboats in our area, and is the perfect place to stay with the girls or on a whole family trip. If you are staying in the cabins or on the campground you can bring a pontoon, bass boat, or speed boat to cruise around on for the day on the lake. Either way, you’ll definitely want to spend a bulk of your visit out on the lake!

Golfing

Barren River Lake has such a beautiful golf course for anyone to enjoy. This is an 18-hole golf course with par 72, although even par is not easy to come by on this course. With stunning hills, greens, and water; it makes for a challenging golf day, but beautiful nonetheless. This is not a course that you will just play once because each hole has challenges of its own you’ll want to tackle. Bring plenty of golf balls, tees, and water! We wish you the best of luck when you tee it up on number one. Pro tip: aim down the left side!

At Barren River Lake, camping is a classic family reunion or annual family trip spot! Perfect to bring the whole family together for a week or weekend. When you camp at Barren River Lake be sure to bring along the s’mores ingredients AND your swimsuit. The campground is located in the middle of the park so you’ll be an easy walking (or golf cart) distance from anywhere you want to go!

Horse Riding

While staying in the campground or at the lodge, you’ll have to try out our 2.5 mile horseback riding trail. We recommend you do a guided ride so you can relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery around the park. With each state park, pricing varies depending on what guided tour you decide to take. The horses are just waiting for you to come and give them some love!
